Toxic Pollution can come from when synthetic chemicals are discharged or natural chemicals accumulate to toxic levels in the environment, which can lead to degrading exosystem functions and threatening human health.
In the past many places have tried to make environmental standard limits on emissions and discharges hoping to decrease and address toxic pollution towards the marine life. The people though can play the largest role by being aware of how they process materials and clean alternatives to products that are harmful. It all takes place with the human activities that we do. In order for more people to find out about why the ocean is slowly decreases and getting worse people have to know why!
Killing our Oceans?
There are certain metels that are huge leading problems that can turn into chemicals that harm the ocean environment. Pesticides PCBs Dioxins All lot of the chemicals cantain hydrogen and carbon and many containing chlorine that persist unchanged in the environment for long periods. A lot of the products are all man made and these human activities is what harms the waters, and all living organisms inside it. Even if some little percentage becomes apart of one fish it can effect the entire food chain as well. Some of the known effects that it can have on marine animals include cancer, lesions, genetic and developmental deformities, behavior abnormalities, reproductive failures, sex changes, and the worst death.
Toxic pollution occurs as a result of a variety of human activities. Examples of that are industries and sewage treatment plants that release wastes which contain toxic substances directly into waterways, and hits striaght into pipes, leading into the ocean waters. It even comes from fuel combustion in cars and other motors, homes and buildings. Many are a result from the power plants because they have a lot of chemicals that drift in the atmosphere and rain down upon or absorb into the surface of the ocean and other bodies of water. Many power plants dump wastes and is the source of radioactive contamination. All these spills and discharges are the cause of marine pollution.
